We left Sucia around 10am to head for home. Unfortunately, the trip was coming to an end. We cruised over the north end of Lummi Island to Lummi Bay in order to take Hale Passage south to Bellingham Bay. We were trying to avoid fighting a Southerly headwind blowing harder on the west side of Lummi than on the east side. The trip across to Lummi Bay turned out to be the roughest 30 minutes of the entire 2 weeks. The breeze was only around 17-20 knots, but it was enough to kick up some chop. As expected, once we tucked behind Lummi, the chop disappeared and all was well in the world, again.
