Galiano Island, Wallace Island and Thetis Island

Today was a beautifully calm day when we left Salt Spring Island at around 8:30am.

Our first stop was to be Montague Harbor on Galiano Island. It is only a 7.3 mile run and took us around 45 minutes to get there. When we arrived we dropped anchor and threw the dinghy in the water. First order of business was tossing the crab pot in the water to see if we could catch some dinner. After getting the trap soaking, we took the dinghy to shore to go for a hike around the park.

After hiking we had lunch at Crane and Robin Restaurant which sits in a beautiful spot overlooking the bay.

When we returned to the boat, we retrieved the crab pot to find a whole lot of nothing. The closest we came to catching a crab was when this mangled remnant of a crab pot came up with our anchor. This guy went back in the water while we dragged the crab pot remains around with us until we were at a marina where we could throw it away.

At 2:00 or so, we departed Montague Harbor aiming for Princess Cove, on Wallace Island. This would be another 7 mile, 50-ish minute cruise. When we arrived we found it very crowded and decided to continue on to Clam Bay at Thetis Island. This is a beautiful, large bay with plenty of anchoring room and it is situated perfectly as a jumping off point to cross the Georgia Strait which we were planning on doing the next morning.

Once we got anchored, we put the kayaks in the water and did some paddling.

After we all took turns paddling, it was time for happy hour. It was an absolutely beautiful evening for it.

Once we were completely stuffed with happy hour nibblies, we had salmon and asparagus for dinner.
